Guidelines for visiting The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center

Before you arrive:

Discuss your appointment time with your group. All viewings are scheduled for a window of time. Your time is your time. The next appointment will follow immediately after you have exited. Please be respectful of your time. You will be reminded to remain within this window of time. You may make an appointment to explore further, should you desire, or require more detailed information. To enhance your visit we strongly suggest that children under the age of 16 are under the supervision of a responsible adult. Children under 16 without an adult will not gain admission to the TheFunkCenter.

Group Leaders and Chaperones:

All school groups must bring one (1) chaperone for every ten (10) students. Groups without an acceptable number of chaperones may be refused entry. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It is the responsibility of the chaperone to stay with the group and keep students together.

We ask you to promote “museum manners” (quiet voices, walking and not running). Remind students that museum exhibits must be respected so that all visitors can enjoy them.

Information for all visitors:

Please walk while in the museum and do not touch exhibits.

During your visit, speak with quiet tones with inside voices in all areas of the museum. If our museum exhibits and public spaces become too noisy your visit will be less meaningful.

Gum, candy, food, and beverages are not allowed in the Museum. No rough-play, throwing, running, spitting, or shouting will be tolerated.

There is no flash photography or use of tripods or monopods allowed in the Museum. For sake of our collections, please do not drink or eat in the museum and refrain from touching the exhibits.

The reasons for our rules:

Museums should be enjoyable and fun for everyone.

When objects are donated or acquired, TheFunkCenter is entrusted to preserve them. The natural oils in your skin may erode and damage objects. Touching may break or otherwise damage fragile materials. Food and drink attract pests, which damage the objects. The light from a camera flash can cause significant damage to museum works of art and fragile objects. We appreciate your desire to celebrate Funk music and welcome you to do so respectfully.

Groups or individuals who violate these rules may be asked to leave the museum.
