Monthly Newsletter – APRIL 2016 DMG Corner by Lamar Webster Hello Dayton Funk fans, far and near. My name is Lamar Webster, a former Daytonian who has lived in Los Angeles since 1983. I am a bass player and former member of the groups Soul Experience, Cypress and Record Player. I grew up on Huron Ave. and attended Westwood Elementary and Nettie Lee Roth HS. That same year, two high school students with a passion for music, started a band that continues to be treasured today. Louis A. McCall, Sr. and Michael Cooper formed Project Soul; a band that would later have 7 members, produce 14 albums, and a string of Top Ten hits on the Billboard charts. On May 27, 2015, TheFunkCenter staff was invited to the National Pen- Hellenic Council of Montgomery County- Dayton event by Kappa Alpha Psi Dayton alumni Chapter President Eric Bradley at the "Taste" restaurant in Trotwood Ohio, to help raise awareness about our organization. President & CEO, David R. Webb and staff spoke before a standing room only audience about the vision, mission and future of the education program for TheFunkCenter.
